That Man May See is dedicated to bringing together people, foundations, and corporations that are passionate about finding solutions for blinding diseases. We channel your passion into projects that change people’s lives, fueling innovative vision research, advancements in patient care, the education of new ophthalmologists, and endowments that provide long-term stability and resources for excellence.

Your gifts continue to fund programs and develop state-of-the-art facilities that improve care and research. Contributors to That Man May See helped to:

  • Launch innovative research initiatives that can mature and attract major support from the National Institutes of Health. That Man May See has helped to seed fund more than $50 million in federal grants: Visions newsletter, Fall 2010 (PDF)
  • Build the Visual Center for the Child, with exam rooms tailored for children and integrated with other pediatric specialists in a child-centered setting (opened in 2009)
  • Save the vision of vulnerable children, families and seniors in Northern California and around the world
  • Purchase all new pediatric ophthalmology equipment that will serve low-income infants and children at San Francisco General Hospital and provide state-of-the-art pediatric-specific tools and equipment: Visions newsletter, Summer 2010 (PDF)
  • Launch a new glaucoma initiative to reduce blindness from glaucoma in the developing world, starting in India
  • Test new ways to diagnose and monitor the most common blinding diseases as well as the most challenging
  • Improve patient outcomes using novel surgical strategies
  • Build the Koret Research Laboratory, which houses laboratories of more than 20 leading vision scientists and their teams (dedicated in 1988)
