- UCSF basic science faculty work in laboratories to better understand the basic causes of eye disease and mechanisms of sight, translating their findings quickly and efficiently into clinical applications.
Each faculty member has a primary appointment with the Department of Ophthalmology or the Francis I. Proctor Foundation for Research in Ophthalmology. The Department and the Proctor Foundation collaborate to provide the best possible outcomes for today’s patients and future generations.
